Chocolate Skeletons Cookie Recipe for Halloween

Halloween is the perfect excuse to get your hands on the dough, and we don't have to complicate ourselves a lot to get some original cookies. A very practical trick to make themed cookies without having to invest in large amounts of icing to decorate them is to dye the dough itself. Ingredients for about 30 cookies

  • For the cookies: 225 grams of butter at room temperature, 325 grams of flour, 225 grams of sugar, 1 egg L, a teaspoon of decaffeinated coffee, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence, 50 grams of cocoa powder .
  • For the glaze: 300-400 gr of icing sugar, 2 pasteurized L egg whites.

How to make Halloween cookies

With the help of a rod blender, Beat the butter with the sugar until you get a very creamy and smooth texture. Add the essence of vanilla, egg and salt and beat a little more. Add the flour, decaffeinated coffee and cocoa, beating until a homogeneous dough is obtained.

Separate into two or three portions and wrap each in plastic kitchen film. Let cool in the fridge for at least one hour. Preheat the oven to 180ºC and prepare some trays, greasing them or covering them with sulfurized paper. Sprinkle some flour on a clean work surface.

Working a portion of dough each time, stretch well with a roller, leaving a thickness of about 5 mm. Trim the cookies using a suitable mold, and distribute in the trays, leaving a little space between them. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, until the edges begin to darken. Wait a couple of minutes out of the oven and let cool completely on a rack.

To make the glaze, first sift the icing sugar and set aside in a bowl. Apart, beat the egg whites with 1/3 of the sugar. Gradually add the rest of the sugar, beating at medium-high speed until a thick and homogeneous texture is achieved.

Decorate the cold cookies with the icing using a pastry bag or similar utensil. To fill the skulls it will be easier if we water a little glasa with some water. Let dry completely before storing them in an airtight container.
