Brazil is a thriving South American economy and, as you know, will organize in the next few years the two most important sporting events in the world, the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. For sports competitions, they will receive many visits and there will be many mouths to feed. And they are already preparing for it and although they have qualified personnel as a prepared country they are, there are deficits of chefs and hospitality professionals who are able to absorb so much work. That is why the Hospitality Association of Rio de Janeiro has contacted the Euskadi homonymous group. And is that, Brazil seeks chefs and hospitality professionals in Spain for the 2014 World Cup and the next Olympic Games.
The demand is from highly qualified chefs, waiters and hotel employees to perform specialized tasks in cafeterias and restaurants.
The first contact was made with the Spanish embassy to inform them of the lack of skilled labor. And it contacted the offices of the National Employment Institute (INEM).
The state employment service concluded that Euskadi was the community that met the requirements requested by Brazil, due to its tradition and hospitality quality. The approach also envisages involving the Basque Culinary Center, although the project is in a preliminary phase and the number of workers needed to fill the jobs is unknown.
Initially, the demand for personnel is to cover places in hotels and other types of accommodation and, in a second phase, employees for bars, cafes and restaurants.
